Here is what you get from YouthFit
A program for 5 to 18 year olds that increases speed, strength, agility, mobility and fitness
YouthFit utilises an ages and stages model to split children into three groups.
- DISCOVER Years 5-9: Guided Discovery. Fun and energetic games that allow these young athletes to experience, explore and discover basic elements of athletic ability such as running, jumping, throwing, balancing, skipping, crawling, climbing, hopping and movement adequacy. It is based on explorative play yet encouraging the athlete to strive for proficiency in the skills offered.
- EXPLORE Years 10-13: Learning Exploration. The focus is still on Fun. The coaching is still outcome-based, multi-directional and multi-planar, but we begin to teach the principles of movement. Force production/absorption/angles and movement economy.
- APPLY Years 14 +: Train with Application. Still Fun! Now though the coaching is form- based and the training has a direction based on where the athlete is going. It becomes a more rigid approach due to the muscular, skeletal system that is still evolving as well as a need to promote and establish skill proficiency.
YouthFit is an athlete-centred Program.
